Cajun Meatballs With Spaghetti

THIS is a quick, easy and economical mid-week family meal. You can either use your own tomato pasta sauce but if you are in a hurry a jar of sauce is fine. This recipe is by Netmums who know all about the best way to feed a family.

Cajun Meatballs With Spaghetti

Ingredients (serves 4)

400g raw spaghetti
400g beef, minced
35g Cajun style seasoning (can buy this already prepared in sachets and jars)
3 slices of white bread (blitzed into crumbs)
1 egg
1 tbsp sunflower oil
500g tomato pasta sauce
fresh coriander (roughly chopped)
fresh basil (to serve)

Method

Place the mince in a bowl with the Cajun seasoning, breadcrumbs and egg
Mix well and divide into 20 balls
Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the balls for 10 minutes, turning frequently until browned
Add the pasta sauce, cover and cook for a further 10 minutes until cooked through and no pink meat remains
Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in lightly salted water as per the on-pack instructions
Drain the pasta, divide between 4 plates and top with meatballs, sauce and coriander
Decorate with a few basil leaves and serve straight away

You can, of course, always make your own pasta. It quick and easy and children just love getting involved. This one has had very good reviews and is a sturdy and efficient machine. The USA link is the one on the right.
